Job Training for Beaver County, Inc. offers a variety of services designed to help Job Seekers find and maintain employment in the present work climate.  Retraining is available to those who qualify as is help with resumes, cover letters and all that is involved in reentering the workforce.

→Three Day Job Search Workshop

  • Join our small classes that work closely with the Job Search Team.
  • Learn tips and techniques for cover letters, tweaking resumes and completing applications.
  • Have the opportunity to NETWORK – the greatest avenue for finding employment.

 

→Job Club

  • Monthly opportunities for job seekers to collaborate, share successes and challenges.

 

→Focus Friday

  • Weekly hour-long workshop focuses specifically on one topic.
  • Topics are Networking, Employers’ Perspective, Applications, Interviewing and Job Search Documents.

 

Skills Training is available for qualified individuals either through postsecondary education providers or with an employer to learn new job skills while working.  Email Rich for more information on the following Skills Training Services.

→Occupational Training

  • Update your skills or training for a new occupation.
  • Assess your training needs and determine if you qualify for up to $8,000 in funded tuition assistance.
  • Find approved training programs on the PA CareerLink website: www.pacareerlink.state.pa.us.

 

→On-The-Job Training

  • Learn new job skills while working.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements.

Additional OJT Funds
Time Limited Funding

Through this On-the-Job Training Grant the employer provides the participant – YOU – with ”On-the-Job Training” in exchange for reimbursement of 50% to 90% of the wages he pays you depending upon employer size or participant skill gaps.  For the worker, this offers a great way to “learn and earn”.

If  you are a PA resident, were dislocated from a job after January 1, 2008 through no fault of your own, and have been dislocated for longer than 22 weeks, you may be eligible for this limited funding.

→Compute-A-Match

  • Computerized and manual testing system that assesses academic as well as hands on testing of motor skills such as hand eye coordination.
  • Results focus on strengths and are available within one week as well as easy to understand.
  • Available in English and Spanish.
  • Compliant with ADA regulations.

 

→WorkKeys®

  • Skills needed in all occupations – skilled or professional – and at any level of education.
  • A job skills assessment system that helps employers make informed hiring decisions.
  • Measures “Real World” skills critical to job success.

 

Credential Programs indicate to an employer that “certified” individuals have the attributes to be successful in the workplace.  Areas addressed include soft skills, traits that demonstrate an effective employee, such as good communication skills, self discipline, and organizational skills, as well as general and basic academic skills, such as math, reading and computer skills.  Email Poppy for more information on the following Credential Program.

→Work Certified

  • Workforce Readiness Program that addresses how to build  and validate skills that employers want.
  • To become Work Certified you must master 50 competencies scoring 80% or better.
  • Job Seekers who achieve certification have excellent work ethics, motivation and initiative.
