Pennsylvania has made a financial commitment to support Industry Partnerships with the goal of enhancing Pennsylvania’s workforce that will lead to higher worker earnings and business improvements.  In an effort to address critical workforce strategies, targeted industry sectors, and upgrade business practices leading to improved production, Pennsylvania passed comprehensive workforce reform legislation in 2005/2006 allocating monies to support Industry Partnerships.

Industry Partnerships bring together multiple employers in the same industry cluster to address common workforce needs.  Common areas may include:

  • Identification of training needs and development of aggregate training that results in an economy of scale.
  • Collaboration with PA CareerLinks and WIA Title I providers of youth programming to address youth career awareness issues as a pipeline to the industry.
  • Identification of barriers to entry level jobs for adults and youth, and solutions to remedy potential barriers.

In the Southwest Corner Workforce Investment Area (Washington, Greene and Beaver Counties) we have four active Industry Partnerships.

  • Transportation and Logistics Partnership
  • Building and Construction Trades Industry Partnership
  • Mining Industry Partnership
  • Southern Pennsylvania Oil and Gas Partnership
